Somatic Prana

“It’s so important that we’re able to connect with our bodies, because our bodies are really our compasses, our direction in life. The mind is useful, it’s a good servant, but it’s a really messed up master.” – Peter A. Levine

Somatic Prana treatment helps you reconnect with your body, gently release ingrained patterns, and breathe more freely, becoming lighter. If you’re not ready to undress or receive touch, that is not necessary in this treatment. We start exactly where you are.

What is Somatic Prana and how does it work?

The word “sōma” means body, while “prāna” in Ayurveda refers to life force, the breath that animates us.

As the name suggests, the focus here is on your body. The mind is invited to settle, so it can begin to follow the signals of the body again – instead of the other way around, as often happens in stressful periods when we switch into “survival mode” and suppress fatigue, pain, or physical discomfort.

The treatment is based on connecting bodily sensations, breath, and attention. Conscious presence and gentle stimulation through massage – or its guided self-massage form, if you prefer not to be touched – support the calming of the nervous system and help you perceive your inner sensations more clearly.

What happens during a Somatic Prana session?

We begin with guided breathing, either lying down or seated. You can wear comfortable clothing and cover yourself if you wish. Together we practice segmented, conscious breathing, and gently activate the root lock (Mūlādhāra bandha), which helps quiet the mind and energize the body.

Then I begin working on your back, and after turning over, continue on your chest. The intensity of touch varies – sometimes deeper, sometimes softer – supporting the body’s natural regulatory processes. Working with the chest, abdomen, and throat areas can help release emotional tension and free the breath. (These are prepared through our shared practice, and of course, you can continue practicing conscious breathing at home.)

At the end of the session, there is time for rest in a lying relaxation. The body lets go, the nervous system integrates, and inner sensations, images, or thoughts may arise.
pon together.

Touch and safety

I only touch you where you are ready for it – directly or through clothing. If you prefer not to receive touch from me, the process can also work beautifully through guided self-massage. Every step is always discussed in advance.

How you may feel after the session

This process can help release accumulated tension and emotions not only mentally, but on a bodily level as well. Relaxation may become more accessible, your sense of inner safety can strengthen, and you may begin to perceive the signals of your body more clearly. As your connection with your body deepens, self-awareness grows, along with your ability to recognize and express your own needs.

Sexuality and intimacy

The quality of your connection with your body also influences how you experience intimacy and closeness with others, including a partner.

If traces of past negative experiences, boundary violations, or painful memories are present, the somatic process does not focus on reliving or overcoming them. Instead, it supports a safe, gradual approach toward closeness, where trust and positive bodily sensations can slowly rebuild at your own pace.

Important to Know

During the Somatic Prana treatment, there is no genital touch, therefore lingam or yoni massage cannot be requested as part of this session. We work with sexual energy through a more subtle, inward-focused approach: supporting energetic release and deeper body connection through abdominal touch (Kanda point activation), conscious breathing, and activation of the root lock (Mula Bandha).
