“It’s so important that we’re able to connect with our bodies, because our bodies are really our compasses, our direction in life. The mind is useful, it’s a good servant, but it’s a really messed up master.” – Peter A. Levine
Somatic prana treatment helps you reconnect with your body, gently release rigid patterns, breathe more freely, and feel lighter. If you are not ready to take off your clothes and be touched, this treatment does not require it. We always start from where you are in the moment.
What is somatic prana and how does it work?
The word “sōma” comes from Greek, meaning body, while “prāna” is a central concept in Ayurveda, meaning breath, life force, vital energy. As the name suggests, the focus here is on your body. The mind is invited to finally listen to the signals of the body, rather than overriding them, as often happens during stressful periods when you suppress tiredness, pain, or physical discomfort.
Somatic prana gently guides you back into your body, helping you become aware of inner sensations, release tension, dissolve energy blockages, and clear old imprints. Through mindful breathing, movement, and touch, your nervous system is supported to calm down, your body’s self-healing processes are activated, and you begin to feel safe and at home within yourself. This loving, inward attention brings you closer to your essence, allowing emotions to flow freely again, so that harmony and self-love can naturally arise.
What will you experience during a session?
In touch-based sessions like lomilomi or tantric prana massage, you mostly surrender your body and let yourself be held. Somatic prana, however, unfolds fully at your own pace, gently expanding your boundaries step by step. Each session becomes a unique, personalized journey in which I accompany you, while the steps are always agreed upon together.
During the session you may explore:
Conscious breathing and self-massage, helping you calm the nervous system and regain a sense of safety.
Meditation and guided imagery practices, through which you can reconnect with your inner resources of love and joy.
Touch, only where you feel ready for it: for example on your face, neck, hands, or feet. Even through clothing we can activate energy points to gently dissolve local blockages.
The final phase of the session allows you to connect with your etheric body, which happens in a state of conscious relaxation, in Savasana. This is a lying meditation, during which I gently guide additional energy movements from the outside. Visions, long-forgotten memories, new ideas, and insights may arise. At this time, the mind is very active and expansive, while the physical body relaxes, rests, and experiences energetic healing.
Sexuality & Intimacy
Somatic prana also provides gentle support for blockages related to sexuality and intimacy. When closeness in a relationship is difficult to develop or maintain, it is often helpful to begin by reconnecting with your own body. If there are traces of sexual trauma, boundary violations, or old painful experiences, we do not force a re-experiencing of the past. Instead, the work unfolds in a safe, forward-looking way, gradually rebuilding trust and positive bodily sensations.
