Lomilomi is a wonder that everyone should experience at least once… and indeed, I have never had a guest whose first words afterward were anything other than “oh wow…” accompanied by a beaming smile.
What is Lomilomi and where does it come from?
Lomilomi nui, a very unique massage technique, has been used by Hawaiian healers known as kahunas for centuries. Lomilomi draws inspiration from the elements of nature, incorporating movements, rhythms, scents, sounds, and the tropical temperature.
What makes it remarkably effective is its fluidity, slowness, and infinity; it never lets go of the body for a moment. This care quickly brings one into a so-called astral state, which is a state of conscious half-dream, a deep level of meditation. In this state, both your body and mind are much more permissive and relaxed.
What will you experience during the treatment?
I move and touch you as if the ocean waves were cradling you; you will hear soft music and the sounds of nature while I nourish your skin with refined coconut oil, cover you with a soft cotton cloth, and infuse the space with essential oils, creating a tropical temperature. In this environment, you can rest, relax, and surrender to the wonderful “nothing” that is simultaneously “everything.” In this space, you can reconnect with yourself, recharge, and heal.
Bonus question… Does it really work the muscles too?
Absolutely! …and don’t be misled by my slender physique; I’m like bamboo.
The technique itself is brilliant, I work with my entire weight, using my forearms and palms rather than just my fingers. In fact, if there’s a need for deeper release, I also utilize my elbows.
Unlike Swedish massage, Lomilomi has a slow flow and covers larger surfaces on the body, making it much more relaxing for the nervous system. It’s more thorough than intense.
